Think of a “Wicked Problem” or a large concept. Break this concept into tangible, smaller parts.
Now, piece these broken parts back together in an entirely new design. How do these pieces fit together? Once they fit together, do they tell a different story? Do they generate a solution? Or maybe it's creating some new questions.
Artist Statement:
"Kit of Parts" is a photo narrative documenting my experiences as an art educator in public schools. I explored the idea of education reform and how teachers are expected to ensure quality education for all students, adapt to technological changes, and prepare students for a rapidly changing world. I began by collecting artifacts symbolizing different aspects of education and my personal journey as a teacher. These artifacts were assembled as a time capsule, a tangible representation of the changes (or lack thereof) in the education system over time. I wonder how my experiences compare to other teachers and what artifacts other teachers might collect. I hope this project inspires other educators to share their journey and serve as a data point in the progression of the education system.
